New years Eve ... and the beginning of a new decade in only a few minutes now. Just over 10 minutes left; we've already had fireworks several hours ago I think for a special "childrens" show. At the same time they were going another fireworks display was also taking place. We had a monster storm complete with thunder and lightning and where the fireworks were pretty and lighted up a little bit of the sky with their presence; the lighting seemed to stretch from one end of the sky to the other and lighted up everything around. It reminded me of the story in exodus where the magicians tried to duplicate the acts of God. At first they could copy the some of the earlier plagues but soon they found out how far short they came compared to what God could do:

Exodus 8:18

But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. And the gnats were on men and animals.

Even more seeing the fireworks and the lightning reminded me of our efforts and how they pale in comparison to the wonderful glory, majesty and might of God!!!

Plans for the New Year

Right now I'm considering what Bible reading plan to understake. I could continue with the 90 day Bible; restart that or begin the Reading through the Bible in the one year program. Right now the last choice is sounding good because of the support that goes with that; hopefully knowing other people are reading through those same pages along with me and writing about it here will help me stay accountable as well as give deeper insight into God's word. Whichever I choose, I know that there are so many precious treasures waiting to be rexamined, to be examined, to be treasured. God is good!

God's grace IS sufficient

When Paul called out to the Lord to have the thorn in his flesh removed, God gave his answer to be:

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

I believe this is true for me also - God's grace IS sufficient!
